Australian 9 Ball Championships 2009
Queensland are proud to announce that 4 people will be travelling down to Adelaide this weekend, 20-22nd February 09, to attend the Australian National 9 Ball Championships at the Empire Lounge.  While the field will be very strong each of the players representing Queensland has an excellent chance of reaching the latter stages of the tournament.
The tournament is broken into 3 days:

Day 1  Scotch Doubles (Mike Vokes & Stephen Burford) winner to represent Australia at World Cup of Pool 2009.  All teams play each other in a round-robin event with the top 4 playing in a semi-final and final knockout event.
Day 2  Singles (Mike Vokes, Stephen Burford, Mark Prociv and Adam List) to compete in a double elimination event against all players in the tournament who are not seeded in the top 16.  Once 16 players are remaining, the day is over and these 16 players return to play in day 3
Day 3  The 16 seeded players are drawn against the Qualifying players from Day 2 in another double elimination event, with the winner representing Austalia at the World Championship 2009.

The Association wishes each player every success and we trust that our abilities will be represented well amongst our peers.

New American 8 Ball Super League
A new American 8 Ball (1 shot) Premier League is starting this Sunday, 17th August at Queensland’s newest Pool Venue on the Gold Cost -  ‘No.9 Dream’.  The competition will be based on a round-robin system and progress into a 5-finalist playoff system.  The competition is also handicapped, with a range of -1 to +3 assigned to each player based on their ability.  This handicap lasts for the duration of the competition and is the no of frames start given to the player prior to the commencement of the match.  Effectively a +3 handicap player would need to win 6 frames in a race to 9 prior to a -1 handicap player reaching 10.

Entry Fees:  $50 plus $5 per match.  Total fee will be $150 per player, with a 10% discount if all fees are paid by 31st August.  Even if you chose not to pay all fees up front, the initial $50 must be received by 31st August and each $5 at each match.

Registration:   All players must have completed their registration by 31st August. Register at Q-Masters, No.9 Dream or contact Mark Prociv (0439 454819) or Mike Vokes (0412 332188)

Match Times:
Matches will be played at the convenience of both players, however, if players are unable to agree on a suitable date, we will allocate a mutually convenient time for the match to be completed.

Scoring:
All matches are a race to 9, with 3 points allocated to the winning player.
A bonus point is allocated to the losing player if they reach a score of 5, including handicap.

Eg.  If Player 1 (Handicap of 2) wins 4 frames against Player 2 (Handicap 0) who wins 9 frames, Player 1 would receive 1 bonus point (4+2>5) and Player 2 would receive 3 points for the win.

Table Hire:  We have negotiated with the venues to allow players to have the first hour of each of their matches free, however, if the match exceeds this time, the players will be expected to pay the remainder of the table hire.  You will BOTH be required to present your match voucher in order to validate your match prior to play.

Prizes:  Currently, based on entries received, and subject to completion of the tournament by those players, the following amounts will be paid in prize money.
    1st   $1500,   2nd  $800,  3rd  $500
